TMA Security Services – the story so far
Mark Telford was driven to found TMA by a strong belief that clients need their security providers to focus on the basics of excellent service.
That translates into connecting with the ethos and culture of every client company, and recruiting officers who can buy into that idea, understand the client’s requirements and integrate with the client’s people on site.
A former Royal Marine with more than 25 years in the security industry, Mark says: “Essentially, it’s focusing on the core of what security’s about and working with clients who are looking for that personal touch.”
Delivering
He adds: “What I enjoy the most is getting in front of people and listening to them to really understand what they want and how we can support them.”
Key to delivering on that idea is TMA’s Academy.
Its remit is to develop the company’s people so that they have the skills they need to meet different clients’ needs – whether that’s engaging with visitors, communications skills or delivering other customer services.
Even before the training begins, the TMA process of matching security officers with clients begins by recruiting people who will be a good fit for the client.
IProfessionalism
TMA’s part of a commitment to professionalism that includes the company achieving the appropriate accreditations to deliver its services, paying officers fairly and treating them responsibly, which includes providing welfare and decent working hours.
Mark is passionate about operational security excellence and building long term business relationships.
It all adds up to bespoke services with a feelgood factor.
Successful
That’s a successful combination, and the company now has a £5 million turnover in 2023 with plans to double that within three years.
With its head office in central London, TMA has a nationwide footprint which enables it to service national clients.
Prior to forming TMA, Mark built up an impressive track record in security sectors including corporate, public, events and executive protection.
After the Royal Marines, Mark worked in Australia for an Israeli security company. He then became head of security for Royal London Hospital before moving into operations working at The Gherkin, Reuters, HSBC and Sothebys.
His next career move was as operations director for a UK security company mobilising large buildings including the Cheesegrater, the Leadenhall Building, Kings Cross Estate and Battersea Power Station.
He was latterly operations director at Allied, now part of G4.
